Bhubaneswar, September 14, 2015: To bring investment to its Special Economic Zone at Gopalpur in Ganjam district of Odisha, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited, which is a 100% subsidiary of Tata Steel Limited, participated in the 19th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) held at Xiamen, China from September 8-11, 2015. Considered as one of the largest international trade fair of the world for facilitating investment and trade, CIFIT witnessed participation of hundreds of companies from more than 50 countries in the world and with around one lakh visitors including investors, CEOs, government representatives, senior corporate executives, etc. who also participated in deliberations held during the exhibition.
As part of Make in India pavilion at the exhibition, coordinated and presented by premier industry body of the country FICCI, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd. had put up a stall at the fair along with other state governments and private companies of India including Government of Odisha. While giving a presentation in Make in India seminar organised on the side line of the exhibition, Mr Arun Misra, Vice President, Project Gopalpur, Tata Steel and Managing Director, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd. said, the Special Economic Zone is looking for investments in Defence, Aerospace, Basic Metals, Light Fabrication, Electrical and Electronic component manufacturing, Logistics in primary and Pharma, Textiles and Chemicals in secondary industries. With anchor investment by Tata Steel in the 55,000 TPA high carbon Ferro-Chrome plant and availability of required infrastructure like water, electricity, road, rail, port and other social infrastructure and new Special Economic Zone policy of state government in place, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone at Gopalpur in Odisha provides an ideal destination for investment, he added.
Mr Y K Sailas Thangal, Consul General of India, Guangzhou, China; Mr Ishtiaque Ahmed, Director, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion , Government of India; Mr. Sanjeev Chopra, Principal Secretary, Industries and Mr P K Jena, Principal Secretary, Water Resources, Government of Odisha visited Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd. stall and highly appreciated the efforts of the company to bring investment to the state. Some of the representatives from Chinese business community, other dignitaries, exhibitors at the event and investors who visited the Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd. stall, explored the possibilities of investment in the Special Economic Zone and had preliminary discussion with Mr Misra in this regard.
